Silverado & Mira Monte Back-to-School Night
Please join us on Thursday, October 14, 6:30pm for Back-to-School Night. Meet Silverado teachers and administrators and enjoy a barbeque dinner in the quad. We look forward to seeing all of you.

Welcome to Our New Principal
Silverado and Mira Monte High Schools welcome our new principal, Mr. David Gordon. Mr. Gordon has worked for 20 years in education, 17 years in alternative education and 13 years as an administrator. Most recently he served as the principal of Alta Vista Continuation High School and Palomar Independent Study Program in Vista, California. Mr. Gordon offered these words of advice to Silverado students: "Come to school, be on time, do what your teachers say, and I guarantee you a high school diploma."

Catch-UP Time - After School Tutoring
Students who need to make up or "catch-up" on missing assignments or who need extra help in classes can get it now on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in the Silverado Media Center, 1:00 - 2:00pm. Textbooks are available for use in the Media Center during that time. Parents and students can check grades online on the Silverado website. Click on "grades & attendance" button. You will need a student ID number to access the information; you can get that number from the Silverado office or from one of the Silverado teachers. If students are missing assignments, they should check with the teacher and then come to afternoon tutoring to make up the work.

Silverado School Rules
Students and parents should be aware of all school rules and follow them...

  • No food or drinks in buildings
  • No gum
  • No cell phones
  • No headphones/IPods
  • No hats or hoods
  • No sleeping in class
  • No smoking

Also, please be aware that the regulation against smoking extends a thousand (1,000) feet outside a school grounds for all attending students. That means that you cannot smoke anywhere on this block or you risk getting a citation.

We are happy to introduce our new ASB (Associated Student Body) advisor, Mrs. Kelly Tombleson. The Silverado ASB is Silverado High School's student leadership group.
